2)Secondary Memory :
It is a mass storage of a computer. It is distinct from memory which refers to a computer storage within the computer. Unlike main memory, ass, storage retains data permanently. The main types of mass storage are :
a)Floppy Disk,
b)Hard Disk,
c)Optical Disk,
d)Cache Memory
a)Floppy Disk : Portable storage device which is inexpensive and comparatively slow.
b)Hard Disk : These are very fast with more capacity than floppy disk, but more expensive than floppy disk.
c)Optical Disk : Unlike floppy and hard disk which is electromagnetic to write data, it uses laser to read/write data. It has high storage capacity, but they are not as fast as hard disk, but inexpensive.
d)Cache Memory : It is a high-speed storage machanism. It is a research section of main memory. Two types of cache used in personal computers.(Memory Cache, Disk Cache)
